Beatport and Madonna Launch ‘Ray of Light’ Remix Comp
Entrants can win a grand prize worth over $12,000
Beatport, Madonna and Warner Music Group have announced the Ray of Light Global Remix Challenge.
The details:
From August 28 – September 25 producers can remix Madonna’s Grammy-winning 1998 album using official stems from the singer and producer William Orbit.
They can upload their version to Beatport’s LabelRadar platform, and the winner will be announced on October 15.
The grand prize includes production hardware, premium software and a record signed by Madonna, worth more than $12,000.
The stems can be downloaded here.
The timing:
The challenge coincides with the release of Veronica Electronica on Warner Records, a long-rumored remix companion to Ray of Light that features edits from Orbit, Sasha, BT, Peter Rauhofer and Victor Calderone.
This is the latest edition of the Global Remix Challenge, with previous ones featuring Tiësto, The Blessed Madonna featuring Kylie Minogue and more.
What they said:
Madonna: “My appreciation for the art of remixing has been passionate since I started making music. The ability to propel boundaries and do the unexpected is something I can relate to as an artist. I look forward to hearing everyone’s interpretation – don’t hold back.”
