YouTube Makes Hype Available Globally, Adds New Features
The function for highlighting ascending creators is now usable in 39 countries
YouTube has expanded its creator promotion tool, hype, to users all over the world. With this rollout, the video hosting giant is also integrating new functions to the feature to continue its mission of leveling the playing field for smaller accounts.
How it works:
YouTube users can hype three videos per week.
Only videos made by creators with fewer than 500,000 subscribers can be hyped.
Hypes gives videos points, which allow the videos to be included on a leaderboard in YouTube’s explore menu.
The fewer the subscribers, the bigger the boost.
The new hype:
Hype is now available in 39 countries.
YouTube has added a dedicated hype button under eligible videos.
There is a new filter for hyped videos on YouTube’s homepage.
Hype statistics have been added to backend analytics for creators.
YouTube is currently testing the ability for fans to purchase more hypes to use per week.
