Google has acquired AI music creation platform ProducerAI, incorporating the startup into Google Labs.
Backstory:
ProducerAI was founded by Seth Forsgren and Hayk Martiros under the name Riffusion.
As per Digital Music News, it gained momentum because it could turn text prompts into short musical clips.
Now, thanks to its integration with the Google ecosystem, users of ProducerAI – which launched under that name in July 2025 – can create tracks up to three minutes long.
How it works:
ProducerAI uses a preview version of Google’s recently launched generative AI music model Lyria 3.
It utilizes Gemini for its chat interface, Nano Banana for album art, and Veo for AI-powered music videos, all components of Google DeepMind’s generative AI system.
In an interview with The Verge, Elias Roman, Senior Director of Product Management at Google Labs, says a key differentiator between the platform and other AI music making models is the back-and-forth dialogue users have with the platform’s built-in agent.
Endorsement:
ProducerAI partnered with The Chainsmokers and GRAMMY-winning rapper Lecrae to develop the platform.
It is currently available in 250 countries.
