Nashville-headquartered music software and audio plugin company STL Tones is expanding its artist royalty platform, enabling guitarists, producers, mixers and artists to upload and monetize their own tones across its software ecosystem.
Backstory:
STL has traditionally worked with select invited artists, producers and bands to release official tone packs and signature sounds through products like ToneHub and ControlHub.
The STL ecosystem hosts signature sounds from guitarists and producers behind acts such as Bring Me The Horizon, blink-182, Slipknot, Paramore, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Beyoncé, Jack White and more.
The company claims to have generated more than USD $2.5 million in artist royalties to date.
Opening up:
STL is now opening the platform to the wider music community, from independent bedroom musicians to GRAMMY-winning producers.
Artists can publish guitar and bass tones in ToneHub, mixing and mastering chains in ControlHub, and earn recurring royalties when their content is used across the platforms.
Artists maintain ownership of their content while gaining access to global distribution, usage analytics, royalty tracking, and automated payouts through the platform.
Why it matters:
The company says the move opens another recurring revenue stream to artists.
It also offers a direct line from artist to fan, which can be particularly engaging during album release campaigns.
