Kickstarter Launches $1M Culture Fund to Support Indie Creators

The fund is the first to be financed by the platform

Kickstarter has launched the Kickstarter Culture Fund, a $1 million fund supporting independent creators in music, arts, film and fashion through contributions to their Kickstarter campaigns.

Why it matters:

  • Funded entirely by Kickstarter, and open to creators worldwide, the initiative supports independent creators at a time when resources are difficult to attain.

  • Kickstarter will make a direct pledge to successful applicants’ campaigns, as well as offering promotional support across its owned and operated channels.

The terms:

  • Applicants’ Kickstarter campaigns must be live or in draft with at least a main image and description.

  • The projects must launch before or on December 31, 2026.

  • Applications can be submitted here.

What they said:

  • Everette Taylor, CEO at Kickstarter: “Creators across all industries – especially artists, musicians, filmmakers, and designers – are facing increasing challenges finding the resources and support they need to bring their ideas to life. The Kickstarter Culture Fund is our commitment to addressing that problem because when fewer ideas have the opportunity to break through, culture, the economy, and society all suffer. By putting resources directly behind the creators, we’re helping more ambitious ideas find the support they need to become reality. This is just the beginning.”
