In January, Spotify launched Prompted Playlist, which uses speech recognition technology to allow users to describe (in English) what they want to hear on a playlist. Now, in its quest to further personalize the platform, it’s unveiled the Taste Profile feature.
What it does:
As per Spotify’s press release, Taste Profile gives users the ability to steer what they see on their homepage.
It brings together a user’s listening across music, podcasts and audiobooks, from the songs they love to their listening habits – for example, if they want upbeat tracks for morning workouts, or news podcasts for their commute to work.
Users can flag if their profile misses the mark and can ask for more or less of a certain vibe, or share what they’re in the mood for.
That input helps determine what gets prioritized, what gets dialed back, and what is open for discovery next.
Rollout:
As with Prompted Playlist, Spotify will debut Taste Profile in New Zealand, where it will launch in beta to Premium listeners in the next few weeks.
Plans for a wider rollout aren’t yet public.
What they said:
A Spotify statement: “This is the next step in our vision to make personalization more transparent, responsive, and truly yours.”
