Subtext, the texting platform that connects media companies, brands, artists and creators to their audiences, has announced a new partnership with SoundCloud.
What it means:
Through this partnership, SoundCloud Artist Pro users can now connect with fans via SMS communication that is direct, secure, and fully owned.
This enables artists to better reach and nurture their audiences without relying on the ever-shifting social media algorithms. It also provides new avenues to generate revenue.
SoundCloud joins a growing list of music companies using Subtext, such as Sony Music, BMG, mTheory, and artists such as Barbra Streisand, Jelly Roll and Idina Menzel.
How it works:
SoundCloud Artist Pro users can launch their own Subtext line and text fans directly – sending one-to-one texts, plus 1:1 replies if they choose.
While SoundCloud already enables direct messaging between artists and fans, Subtext claims this partnership allows artists to scale those personal connections via SMS.
What they said:
Mike Donoghue, CEO and Co-Founder of Subtext: “By combining Subtext’s powerful SMS platform with SoundCloud’s cultural influence and vibrant artist community, this partnership is redefining how artists connect with their audiences. Subtext gives artists a direct line to fans – fostering authentic conversations, richer relationships, and new opportunities for monetization.”
