SoundCloud has teamed up with on-demand vinyl platform elasticStage to enable artists to sell vinyl with no upfront costs, no minimum order requirement, and full control over their music.
How it works:
The offer is open to SoundCloud Artist Pro users, who can join a waitlist to use the service.
Once approved, artists pick the tracks from SoundCloud they want pressed, add credits, upload artwork and submit it for review.
SoundCloud creates a web page for the vinyl and lists it for sale.
elasticStage will handle customer service requests and ship each record as orders come in, with artists paid for every sale.
The partnership has launched with vinyl from artists including AM.RADIO, Blonde Maze, Diorvsyou, Kelcey Ayer, and Raine Simone.
What they said:
Eliah Seton, SoundCloud CEO: “Vinyl sales have surged over 300% since 2016, yet most independent artists have been excluded from this growth due to high manufacturing costs and logistical limitations.”
“At SoundCloud, we’re committed to helping artists thrive by providing new opportunities for connection and monetization. This partnership is another step toward ensuring that every artist – no matter where they are in their career – has the tools to build a sustainable career.”
