Abbey Road Studios Appoints First-Ever Producer in Residence
The inaugural position will be held by Kid Harpoon, longtime producer for Harry Styles and more
Abbey Road Studios, the legendary London studio where everyone from the Beatles to Frank Ocean has recorded music, has named its first producer in residence. Kid Harpoon — who is well-known for his longstanding collaboration with Harry Styles and producing Miley Cyrus’s megahit, “Flowers” — will hold the newly created position.
Producer in residence:
Kid Harpoon, real name Thomas Hull, will be able to use the entire Abbey Road facility as his home studio.
This includes all three major recording rooms and the studio’s extensive arsenal of vintage gear.
As a part of the position, Hull will be involved in Abbey Road’s free education programs, such as Abbey Road Amplify.
What they said:
Hull: “I’m beyond excited to become producer in residence at Abbey Road. In this position, I’m hoping to use my experience to help guide some of the incredible up-and-coming talent we have in the UK while they navigate their way through what can be a difficult industry.”
Sally Davies, Abbey Road’s Managing Director: “We’re thrilled to welcome Kid Harpoon as our first-ever producer in residence at Abbey Road Studios. He brings a spirit of collaboration and innovation that perfectly aligns with our vision. With his creative lead, we’re excited to deepen our artistic community and continue placing creativity at the heart of our home.”
Mark Robertson, Abbey Road’s Director of Marketing & Creative: “Tom’s experience, know-how, and generosity are already fueling and informing our work as we enhance the gear and instruments in our smaller rooms. And we’ll combine forces to create new opportunities for the next generation of artists, producers, and creatives.”
