The figure rose $3 billion in 12 months
YouTube claims to have made a cumulative $12 billion in Content ID payouts as of December 2024.
Why it matters:

The advertising revenue from these videos is shared with the claiming partners rather than the uploaders.
The figures:
YouTube's latest Transparency Report shows that its Content ID system processed a record-breaking 2.2 billion copyright claims in 2024. As of December 2024 it has paid out more than $12 billion in revenue for copyright claims originating from the Content ID system. As per Music Ally, that amount is up from more than $9 billion at the end of 2023.
