Deezer has its AI detection tool, Spotify its Verified by Spotify badge. Now streaming startup Vocana has launched its Verified Human Artist badge to help real musicians stand out amid a growing wave of AI-generated content.
How it works:
In partnership with JamBase, a database of live show data, Vocana uses verified performance histories to identify artists actively playing shows and connecting with fans offline.
Those artists are provided with a Verified Human Artist badge.
In addition to helping users navigate through AI content to find music created by real humans, the company says the badge will enable fans to find and connect with Vocana artists beyond the screen, key to its mission of supporting the indie music ecosystem.
Launch party:
On May 11 Vocana and JamBase will launch their collaboration with a party at Music Biz 2026, from 8pm-11pm at Georgia Power Pavilion.
Indie ethos:
Vocana was launched in August 2025 by entrepreneurs Jim Knight and Dale Chorba, with the aim of getting independent artists paid and heard more.
Its catalog is made up entirely of independent artists.
Having already done deals with CD Baby, FUGA and Distrokid, in February it partnered with Symphonic to bring its catalog to the platform.
Vocana is currently in public Beta.
What they said:
Neil Sheehan, President of Vocana: “We’re here to build community, first and foremost. The Verified Human Artist badge is about bringing music back to something tangible that we can share, something deeply human and authentic. When fans get to see artists play live, there’s a deep connection that can form, a different kind of support that really matters to everyone in independent music.”
