TikTok is currently testing a new feature that will allow users to control how much AI-generated content they see on their user feeds. The video-sharing platform is also testing “invisible watermarking” technology that will be required for labelling realistic AI-generated content.
How it works:
The AI filtering tool will be available through the current “manage topics” menu.
Users will adjust a slider to increase or decrease the amount of AI content they see on their feeds.
This is similar to the culture of “opt-in/opt-out” options for AI content. Those who are interested can see the full range of AI content. Those who would prefer not to see it can remove it.
For the watermarking, TikTok has already labelled 1.3 billion AI videos.
The platform will label AI tools it already offers creators and tap C2PA Content Credentials, a cross-industry technology that integrates specific metadata into content to signal AI was used.
What they said:
TikTok: “Like those controls, the AIGC setting is intended to help people tailor the diverse range of content in their feed, rather than removing or replacing content in feeds entirely.”
