Producer Drops KAROL G Beat-Theft Lawsuit: “We Were Wrong”

The reggaeton star had been accused of stealing a beat for 2022’s ‘Gatúbela’

Producer Alfr3d Beats has withdrawn his lawsuit against Colombian reggaeton star KAROL G, in which he accused the singer-songwriter of stealing one of his beats for 2022 hit ‘Gatúbela.’

Backstory:

  • Alfr3d Beats, real name Dick Alfredo Caballero Rodriguez, filed his lawsuit in March 2025. He was joined by fellow producer Jack Hernandez in the suit.

  • Rodriguez alleged that G’s producer DJ Maff lifted the beat for ‘Gatúbela’ from his song “Punto G,” which he posted to YouTube on 12 July 2022, six weeks before G’s song was released.

  • The lawsuit also targeted Universal Music.

Apology:

  • As per Complete Music Update, during discovery the defendants provided evidence, including session files, proving that DJ Maff created the beat for “Gatúbela” months before “Punto G” was released.

  • They also proved that Karol G recorded the final version of the song two weeks prior to the release of “Punto G.”

  • Rodriguez has withdrawn his complaint and issued a statement in which he “wishes to sincerely apologise to KAROL G and DJ Maff” for the “mistaken claims and public allegations,” admitting that “we were wrong.”
