TikTok Announces TikTok for Artists

TikTok's new artist platform offers analytics and pre-release tools globally.

TikTok has announced the global launch of TikTok for Artists, after trialing it in beta across a small group of artists in Australia, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand and South Korea.

How it works:

  • TikTok for Artists provides daily updated analytics dashboards containing data about the performance of an artist's music and posts on TikTok, as well as follower insights such as self-declared gender, age and language.

  • It also offers step-by-step guides to TikTok's tools and features.

  • The announcement brings with it the launch of the Pre-Release tool, giving artists the ability to promote their upcoming album on TikTok.

  • It also allows fans to pre-save the album directly to their Spotify or Apple Music library.

The fine print:

  • Users must have a certified TikTok Artist Account to access the platform.

  • Artists can then grant access to their teams and labels.

What they said:

  • Tracy Gardner, TikTok's Global Head of Music Business Development: "With the launch of TikTok for Artists, all tiers of artists will gain insights on TikTok that they can use to take their careers to a whole new level."

Looming issues:

  • In January, former President Joe Biden signed legislation mandating that ByteDance, the Chinese parent company of TikTok, divest its US operations or face a nationwide ban.

  • President Trump has extended the deadline twice. The current due date is June 19.
