


Sony Music Posts Record $10.75B Annual Revenue, Up 13%
Sony Music's annual revenue surged 13% to $10.75 billion driven by streaming and physical sales growth.
Sony Music Entertainment (SME) has released its financial results for January through March 31, 2025, the final quarter of its fiscal 2024.
Q1 Snapshot:
Excluding visual media and platform sales (mobile gaming, anime etc), music revenue reached $2.64 billion/¥387.46 billion, up roughly 4.5%.
Physical sales jumped 12% YOY to $183.10 million/¥26.85 billion off the back of bestsellers such as SZA's SOS Deluxe: Lana, Tate McRae's So Close to What, LISA's Alter Ego and Tyler, the Creator's Chromakopia and Igor.
Recorded streaming's growth rate was 4.8%, reaching $1.32 billion/¥193.04 billion in total revenue.
Sony Music Publishing enjoyed a 16.3% YOY jump ($656.54 million/¥96.28 billion).

Music revenue (less visual media and platform) hit $10.75 billion/¥1.58 trillion, a leap of 13.1% YOY.
Recorded music contributed $8.16 billion/¥1.20 trillion to that result, made up of $5.38 billion/¥788.77 billion from streaming (up 11.2% YOY), and $724.40 million/¥106.15 billion from physical (up 4.8% YOY).
Bestsellers were SZA's SOS Deluxe: Lana, Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter, Future and Metro Boomin's We Still Don't Trust You and Travis Scott's Utopia.
Publishing revenue leapt 16.3% YOY to hit $2.59 billion/¥379.81 billion.
Full-year music operating income was up 18.4% YOY, reaching $2.44 billion/¥357.26 billion.
