Universal Music Nordics Adopts ‘One Nordic’ Structure

Unifies teams in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Baltics

Universal Music Nordics, a division of Universal Music Central Europe, is unifying its operations in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Baltics as ‘One Nordic.’

What it means:

  • Universal’s traditional country-based leadership model in the Nordics is replaced by “one unified, cross-Nordic setup.”

  • The company says this allows it “to deploy top expertise and resources to where they create the most impact, regardless of geography.”

Key leadership:

  • Current President of Universal Music Nordic Region, Joakim Johansson, will lead the unified setup.

  • He will report to Frank Briegmann, Chairman & CEO of Universal Music Central Europe and Deutsche Grammophon.

Integrated divisions:

  • One Nordic’s structure is based around four “vertically integrated” divisions: Recorded Music, Live Entertainment, Artist Management and D2C.

  • Bjørn Rogstad will lead the Recorded Music division, overseeing a restructured set of labels throughout the region, alongside a “revamped Catalogue and International division,” all operating “under a shared Nordic vision.”

  • Jimmi Riise will continue to lead the Live Entertainment division, with a brief to “expand regional integration between artists and audiences.”

  • Casper Bengtson will head up Artist Management & D2C.

  • Jael Steinberg, General Manager, Business Operations, will lead Creative & Commercial Services, a “newly combined vertical [that] will be merging marketing division Amplify and commercial functions into one Nordic network.”

  • Erik Backman will oversee the consolidated finance department; Martha Åhlund will head up People, Inclusion & Culture.

What they said:

  • Joakim Johansson: “With One Nordic, we are changing how we build and run music entertainment across the Nordic region. This is about reflecting how artists actually create, how fans engage, and how the business needs to operate in our region today. By removing silos and working as one team, we can move faster, think bigger, and create more impact for artists and fans alike. I’m confident this model is better for our artists, better for their fans, and better for the people in our team building the future of our business.”
