Music licensing platform Slipstream has acquired Megatrax, the Los Angeles-based production music library that represents more than 200,000 tracks by composers, songwriters and musicians for film, TV and advertising.
Why it matters:
With the deal, Slipstream’s catalog now exceeds 1 million tracks.
It also expands Slipstream’s presence in Latin America, where Megatrax acquires a “significant share” of its revenue, as per Billboard.
Megatrax, which was founded in 1991 by Ron Mendelsohn and JC Dywer, will continue to operate independently as it’s integrated into Slipstream’s portfolio.
Other acquisitions:
In 2024, Slipstream purchased production music company Anthem Entertainment, including its businesses Jingle Punks, 5 Alarm Music and Cavendish Music.
What they said:
Dan Demole, CEO of Slipstream: “This acquisition reflects our long-term consolidation strategy. Megatrax is a highly respected, composer-led catalog with decades of history in television, film and advertising. By integrating it into our proprietary licensing platform, we can modernize distribution, expand directly into Latin America, and improve Slipstream’s offering to our clients around the globe.”
