Primary Wave Partners with the Estate of Wilson Pickett

Primary Wave Music has partnered with the estate of legendary soul singer Wilson Pickett.

The deal:

• Primary Wave will work alongside Pickett’s estate on the late singer’s music publishing catalog, which includes songs such as “In the Midnight Hour,” “Mustang Sally,” “Land of a Thousand Dances,” and more.

• Primary Wave will also share in the performer’s name, image and likeness rights.

• The estate will have access to Primary Wave’s marketing team and publishing infrastructure, and both parties will partner closely on new marketing, branding, digital and sync opportunities, as well as film and television projects.

• Financial terms have not been disclosed.

Wave of activity:

• The deal is the latest in a run of catalog and name, image, and likeness partnerships for Primary Wave.

• In June it struck a deal with the estate of Donna Summer, while in July it partnered with Foreigner co-founder Mick Jones.

• Primary Wave’s portfolio also includes rights in the music of Bob Marley, Prince, Whitney Houston, and James Brown, among others.
