Music Remix App Hook Announces Integration with SoundCloud
The partnership launches with a Lil Wayne Remix Challenge
Hook, the music app that enables fans to easily create authorized remixes and share them on social media, has launched a strategic integration with SoundCloud. The initiative kicks off with a competition to remix songs from Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter VI.
The challenge:
The remix challenge is taking place on both SoundCloud and Hook.
Hook users can create their own remixes of one of three featured tracks from Tha Carter VI: “Hip-Hop” (feat. BigXthaPlug, Jay Jones), “Sharks” (feat. Jelly Roll, Big Sean) and “Banned from NO.”
Fans listening on SoundCloud can customize the featured songs via the Artist Storefront on each track page for web and mobile, which will take them to Hook.
They can then share their remixes to SoundCloud directly from Hook to take part in the challenge and a chance to win prizes such as concert tickets and signed vinyl.
Sharing remixes:
While Hook users can already share their short-form remixes to platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels, they can now share their sub-60-second remixes of licensed songs to SoundCloud.
DJs and tastemakers can discover fan-made remixes on Hook and export them to their own SoundCloud page.
They can then use SoundCloud’s integrations with Serato, Algoriddim, Denon DJ, Numark and other DJ software and hardware to mix the remixes into their live sets.
Every remix created on Hook is rights-cleared and trackable.
What they said:
Gaurav Sharma, Hook Founder and CEO: “Fans aren’t just listening to or reacting to music anymore; they are helping to shape it. For many years now, SoundCloud has played a key role in helping to transform and catalyze music trends around the world. This partnership builds a bridge between creation and culture, enabling fans to go from ‘listener’ to ‘remixer’ to ‘music tastemaker’ in seconds.”
