Live Nation and AEG Probed by DOJ Over COVID-era Concert Refunds
DOJ launches criminal antitrust probe into Live Nation and AEG's COVID-era refund policies.
Live Nation and AEG Presents are the subject of a criminal antitrust probe by The US Department of Justice (DOJ) regarding their response to concert cancellations at the beginning of the COVID pandemic in 2020.
Why it matters:
Bloomberg reports the focus of the probe is on whether the companies colluded on refund policies for the canceled shows.
In a statement, Live Nation EVP of corporate and regulatory affairs Dan Wall said that during the pandemic "we set our own unique policies and refund terms to support fans and artists. We did not collude with AEG or anyone else."
Other investigations:
The DOJ's antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation and Ticketmaster is scheduled for March 2026.
The DOJ and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) are continuing their inquiry in response to President Trump's executive order regarding "unfair and anticompetitive practices in live ticketing".
