Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey has been announced as the headliner of Fortnite Festival Season 14, following in the footsteps of recent headliners Chappell Roan (S13) and Blackpink’s Lisa (S12).
New additions:
As per usual, users can buy a series of Laufey-related virtual items, such as emotes, jam tracks and outfits from her latest world tour.
For the first time, however, they can also use the new ‘Mic Vocals’ feature to plug in a mic and sing along, karaoke style.
Aspiring drummers can, via the new ‘Pro Drums’ feature, plug in a Rock Band 4 or compatible MIDI drum kit and play along.
Users can also walk around and shift positions freely in the Jam Ring while playing, while the new Quick Mix UI allows fans to quickly swap or shuffle tracks while jamming for immediate mashups.
Good timing:
The announcement comes in the middle of Laufey’s multi-weekend Coachella performances.
Bad timing:
As Music Ally points out, Season 14 comes on the back of publisher Epic Games laying off more than 1,000 staff, blaming a downturn in Fortnight engagement.
