Island Records has announced a special U2 & Guinness release of the band’s upcoming album, Carnaval De Luz, in celebration of the Irish quartet’s 50th birthday.
Special release:
The one-off limited-edition pressing of the 12-track album will be on pearl white marble vinyl.
It will feature a 16-page booklet with lyrics, photography, and exclusive album imagery.
It will also contain a double-sided Guinness Collectors Art print by Bono.
In addition, the partnership will yield two limited-edition U2 & Guinness T-shirts, available from November 13, the album’s release date.
A portion of sales from the vinyl and T-shirts will be donated to the Guinness Dublin 8 Community Fund.
Pre-orders are available online now.
Limited numbers of physical vinyl will also be available for purchase on November 13 at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin and Guinness Open Gate Brewery in London, and on November 20 at the Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Chicago.
Long relationship:
In 1978, U2 – who had recently changed their name from The Hype – entered a Guinness-sponsored talent competition in Limerick.
They won the top prize of IR£500 and a recording session.
What they said:
Stephen O’Kelly, Guinness Global Brand Director: “We are incredibly proud of this collaboration and honored to create this one-of-a-kind piece of physical history for the fans. Giving back to the local community is also important to us both, we’re delighted to donate a percentage of all vinyl and t-shirt sales to the Guinness Dublin 8 Community Fund.”
