The coalition represents major names from music, movies, TV, and other creative industries

This week, over 500 prominent members of the entertainment industry officially launched the Creators Coalition on AI (CCAI). The organization seeks to be a "central hub" in developing ethical guidelines for how AI is used in the creative industries.

Core principles:

  • CCAI laid out four pillars of their philosophy on AI:

  • Transparency, Consent, and Compensation for Content and Data.

  • Job Protection and Transition Plans.

  • Guardrails against Misuse and Deepfakes.

  • Safeguarding Humanity in the Creative Process.

Who’s on board:

  • The organization was founded by 18 notable names, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Natasha Lyonne.

  • 518 other professional entertainers are listed as signatories.

  • Some of the signatories include musicians such as Anderson. Paak, RZA, Rita Ora, Carrie Brownstein, and Sean Lennon.

  • Other A-list celebrity signatories include Zach Galifianakis, Cate Blanchett, Aaron Sorkin, and John C. Reilly.

What they said:

  • Gordon-Levitt: “It’s not just going to be Hollywood legacy media people, but also the YouTubers, the social media content creators, the podcasters, the newsletter writers, really all creators. We’re all frankly facing the same threat. Not from generative AI as a technology, but from the unethical business practices a lot of the big AI companies are guilty of.”
