
Rene Erwin Mata
Frontiers Label Group has appointed Rene Erwin Mata as A&R – New York. The announcement follows several other Frontiers appointments, including Timo Hoffman as Head of A&R, Germany, and Nils Wasko as Head of International Label Management.
The role:
Mata will be responsible for further establishing the company’s presence in North America, while supporting the next wave of rock and alternative acts globally.
Backstory:
Mata brings more than two decades of experience spanning A&R, artist management, and music industry consulting.
He’s previously worked at Sony Music, Columbia Records, Red Bull Records, Razor & Tie, Mascot Label Group, and Lava/Republic Records.
He is credited with playing a key role in the early development of Maroon 5, Lovelytheband, Des Rocs and Return To Dust.
He has also contributed to projects involving artists such as P.O.D., Poppy, Grey Daze, and Albert Hammond Jr.
In addition, Mata spent 11 years managing producers and mixers at Advanced Alternative Media, and he’s also had a career as a recording artist, signed to Lava, AFM Records, and Vydia.
