Brian Eno Revives Opal Records, Slipknot Launches (sic)est Records
The artists kick off new chapters for their respective labels
Metal titans Slipknot have launched their own label, (sic)est Records, while legendary musician-producer Brian Eno has revived Opal Records, the label he founded in 1988.
New imprint:
Slipknot’s first release under its label imprint is the single “Arsenal,” which came out on September 9.
Though the new venture follows the completion of the band’s long-running contract with Roadrunner Records, (sic)est Records is reportedly operating in partnership with Roadrunner and Atlantic Records.
The single marks the first release to feature drummer Eloy Casagrande, who replaced Jay Weinberg in 2023, and is the first without longtime members Sid Wilson and Craig Jones.
A new chapter:
Brian Eno’s Opal Records is releasing music for the first time in more than three decades.
The first two releases are reissues of Eno’s Another Day on Earth (2005) and his 2001 collaboration with J. Peter Schwalm, Drawn From Life, both unavailable outside of Japan for nearly 20 years.
There will also be new releases.
When active between 1988 and 1991 Opal released albums by Brian Eno, Roger Eno, Harold Budd, Laraaji, John Cale, Daniel Lanois, and more.
