John Mayer
John Mayer has launched his own record label, Sob Rock Records, which has entered into a partnership with Mercury Records. Mayer parted ways with longtime label Sony Music in 2022.
Debut single:
The first release on Sob Rock Records – which shares its name with Mayer’s 2021 album, Sob Rock – will be the single "Tom and Jerry,” the singer-guitarist’s first new solo music in five years.
It’s released on Friday October 23.
The song was recorded at Chaplin Studios, which Mayer owns with film director McG.
As yet there is no word of a new album.
Live return:
Mayer recently announced a run of shows at the Sphere in Las Vegas, from April 8 through June 12.
What they said:
John Mayer: “Working with Tyler Arnold and the talented team at Mercury Records has already proven to be a great partnership. The path from creative vision to execution has never been easier or more rewarding. I feel very inspired, and I’m excited for what’s to come.”
Tyler Arnold, Mercury Records Chairman and CEO: “John Mayer is one of the greatest artists of all time, and I couldn’t be prouder to welcome him to Mercury Records. We’re excited to be part of his next chapter and to partner with his label, Sob Rock Records, to help bring his creative vision to life.”
