Taylor Swift Announces Original ‘Toy Story 5’ Song

‘I Knew It, I Knew You’ is said to mark a return to her country roots

Taylor Swift has announced a new original song called “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which will feature in Toy Story 5.

The details:

  • The song is co-written and co-produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff, with whom the singer last collaborated on 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department album.

  • According to Disney’s press release, it was inspired by cowgirl Jessie’s “ongoing journey” that began in Toy Story 2, and “marks a return to Taylor Swift’s country roots, blending styles that have defined her record-breaking career as a songwriter and artist.”

  • Fans can buy limited edition CD singles on Swift’s webstore up until Wednesday afternoon, with additional acoustic and piano versions available.

  • The song will be released on Friday June 5, with Toy Story 5 to follow on June 19.

What they said:

  • Taylor Swift, via social media: “I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5 year old kid watching the first Toy Story. I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?”
