Tampa-headquartered music distribution and marketing company Symphonic has acquired Distro Nation, a music distribution and YouTube monetization platform.
Backstory:
Distro Nation has been a major player in the YouTube space since launching in 2011 as INDMUSIC.
It helped monetize viral moments like Baauer’s “Harlem Shake,” and later became part of Live Nation as Live Nation Video Network.
In 2024 it returned to operating independently as Distro Nation, focusing on YouTube monetization and channel admin and management.
The deal:
The acquisition brings a roster of YouTube channels under Symphonic’s management, including Lindsey Stirling, Sabaton, Yanni, Good Charlotte, Bryant Myers and Switchfoot.
Symphonic will also manage and monetize Chappell Roan’s YouTube channel for content released prior to 2023’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.
The deal strengthens Symphonic’s YouTube capabilities, offering its clients more advanced tools, deeper insights, and stronger support for those looking to grow their YouTube presence.
Jon Baltz, CEO and Co-Founder of Distro Nation, will join Symphonic as Head of UGC & Rights Management, along with his team.
What they said:
Jorge Brea, CEO of Symphonic: “Distro Nation, like Symphonic, has been a champion for independent artists for many years, providing invaluable resources to help artists thrive on YouTube and beyond. This acquisition was a natural partnership that will allow us to offer even better tools and strategies for success to our artist and label community. We’re excited to welcome Distro Nation and their clients to the Symphonic family.”
