Spotify Launches Music Videos for Premium Subscribers in the US and Canada
These two areas now join over 100 markets beta testing the feature
Spotify has rolled out music videos in beta for the US and Canada. All premium subscribers in those regions will be able to watch music videos directly on their TV, desktop, iOS, or Android device by the end of December.
How it works:
Select a supported track and tap “Switch to video” on the main track screen.
The screen will switch to the video wherever the song is currently playing.
To watch the whole video, you’ll have to start the track over.
To return to the standard image, whether that be a canvas or the release artwork, simply press “Switch to audio.”
That button will be in the same place as “Switch to video,” and the track will also continue to play seamlessly when returning to audio.
The initial catalog of videos is currently limited to a select few artists.
Some include Ariana Grande, Olivia Dean, BABYMONSTER, Addison Rae, Tyler Childers, Natanael Cano, and Carín León.
Artists will have a “Related Music Videos” tab to find more to watch.
There will be video playlists for different genres and eras.
