Spotify Introduces Playlist Mixing Tool
The beta feature offers customizable transitions and effects
Spotify has announced the rollout of customizable transitions in playlists, meaning eligible Premium subscribers can transition seamlessly between tracks, customize how they flow together, and enhance the audio mix with features like volume, EQ, and effect curves.
How it works:
Users can access the function by selecting “Mix” from the toolbar.
The “Auto” option delivers an “instant blend,” or users can customize their mix and create unique transitions.
Alongside transition styles such as “Fade” or “Rise” is the ability to alter volume, EQ and effects, and use the waveform and beat data to find the best spot in the track for the transition.
After saving the changes, users can toggle the mix on and off by pressing the “Mix” button.
Timing:
Digital Music News notes this beta launch comes only a few months after Apple Music introduced its Automix function.
Rollout:
Spotify says the feature is “rolling out to eligible Premium users,” although makes no mention of which territories.
