Seeker Music, the music rights, publishing, and record company founded by M&G Investments and led by award-winning songwriter and creative executive Evan Bogart, has celebrated five years in business with a series of new hires and promotions.

The promotions:

  • Steven Melrose has been upped from Global Head of Creative to Chief Creative Officer.

  • Since joining Seeker in 2021 Melrose has played a key role in spearheading catalog acquisitions of artists such as Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Christopher Cross, Run the Jewels, Jay Sean and more.

  • The former Sony and EMI exec has also been instrumental in acquiring the catalogs of international artists such as Mark Morrison, Plested, Future Cut and The Wombats.

  • John Bowditch has been promoted to Vice President of Marketing & Innovation.

  • Bowditch has led initiatives such as the campaign around Christopher Cross’s music, which has brought his catalog to streaming highs; vinyl repressings of Run The Jewels’ albums; and creative marketing for releases by artists such as Caroline Kingsbury and CARR.

The new hires:

  • Former DreamWorks Animation and Saban Music Group exec Todd von Mende joins Seeker’s executive leadership team as Chief Financial Officer.

  • Andrew Grant joins from Atlantic Records/Warner Music Group, assuming the role of Vice President of A&R.

  • Ahyiesha Sarnor joins as Attorney, Legal & Business Affairs, having previously served at Cutting Edge Media.

  • Rose Campbell will join as the new Director of Marketing, moving across from senior roles at SoundCloud and The Spellbound Group.

  • Donald McGill joins as Director of Investments, having previously worked across music investments for Warner Chappell, Kobalt, and Open On Sundays.

  • Brett Wilson joins as Royalties Manager, having worked in the field at BMI and Universal Music Publishing.

  • Martin Chisel moves from BMG to join Seeker as Rights & Royalties Coordinator.

The first five years:

  • Since 2020, Seeker has built a $300 million portfolio of more than 17,000 copyrights (including 38 songs in Spotify’s Billions Club).

  • It was No. 2 on Fast Company’s ‘Most Innovative Music Companies 2025’ list.

What they said:

  • Evan Bogart, CEO: “From day one, Seeker has been reimagining what a modern music and rights company can be. As creators first, we’ve built a business that treats songs not only as legacies to preserve, but as fuel for what’s next. Five years in, the results speak for themselves: record-breaking hits, catalogs revitalized with new energy, new fans and fandom, and a redefinition of what creative catalog management can mean. Just as importantly, we’ve shown that a creator-led company can deliver real value for our partners and investors.”
