Niklas Brantberg Joins Spotify as Managing Director for the Nordics

The exec aims to strengthen Spotify’s ties across the region

Niklas Brantberg has joined Spotify as Managing Director for the Nordics, having started in the role on September 7.

Backstory:

  • Brantberg was previously the CEO of Sweden-based label Overtone Studios, which is part of the Epidemic Group.

The mission:

  • As reported by Music Business Worldwide, in a written statement Brantberg wrote of his desire with Spotify to “build stronger, more valuable partnerships with artists, authors, creators, labels and publishers across the Nordics, and help more Nordic talent reach a global audience.”

  • He added that he wants Spotify “to be a constructive voice on the big, complex questions ahead such as AI and platform responsibility.”

  • “Right now, though,” he added, “mostly I just want to listen and learn. If you’re an artist, author, creator, label or publisher and have thoughts on where Spotify and this industry should go – I’d genuinely love to hear them. Feel free to reach out.”
