Samsung Rejects Claims of ‘Intentional Misuse’ in $15 Million Dua Lipa Lawsuit

The electronics giant says it’s “open to a constructive resolution”

South Korean multinational conglomerate Samsung has responded to Dua Lipa’s $15 million lawsuit, in which she accused the company of using her image on its TV boxes without permission or compensation.

The response:

  • As per Digital Music News (DMN), Samsung claims it used the image in 2025 “to reflect the content of our third-party partners that is available on Samsung TVs.”

  • In addition, it says the image was initially provided by a “content partner for our free streaming service Samsung TV Plus.”

  • Samsung says it was assured by the partner that permission to use the image had been secured.

  • As a result, it told DMN, it denies “any allegations of intentional misuse.”

  • Adding that it has “great respect” for Lipa and all artists’ intellectual property, Samsung says it has “actively sought and remain open to a constructive resolution with Ms. Lipa’s team.”
