Dua Lipa Files $15M Suit Against Samsung

The singer alleges the electronics giant used her likeness to sell TVs

Dua Lipa is suing electronics manufacturer Samsung for $15 million, alleging it has used her likeness to sell TVs without permission or compensation.

The complaint:

  • The suit alleges that, by using her image on the cardboard packaging of its TVs, Samsung is profiting from the implication that the singer has endorsed the product.

  • The company’s response to Lipa’s demands to stop using her image was, says the complaint, “dismissive and callous.”

  • As per Variety, Lipa owns the copyright to the photo in question, which was taken backstage at Austin City Limits in 2024.

  • The complaint, which was filed in the Central District Court of California, alleges a copyright violation, a violation of the California right of publicity statute, a federal Lanham Act claim, and trademark claims, as per Variety.

  • Samsung is yet to comment.
