Primary Wave Lands Catalog and NIL Deal with Harry Chapin Estate

The singer-songwriter was responsible for ‘Cat’s in the Cradle,’ ‘Taxi’ and more

Primary Wave has partnered with the estate of singer-songwriter Harry Chapin, securing a stake in his catalog and name, image and likeness rights.

The deal:

  • Included in the partnership is Chapin’s work across 11 albums and 14 singles, covering staples such as “Cat’s in the Cradle,” “Taxi,” “I Wanna Learn a Love Song,” “Sunday Morning Sunshine,” and more.

  • The estate will gain access to Primary Wave’s marketing team and publishing infrastructure, working on new marketing, branding, digital and sync opportunities, as well as film and television projects.

  • Financial terms of the deal, and the size of Primary Wave’s stake, have not been disclosed.
