[PIAS] Relaunches Source, The Label Behind Releases from AIR, Phoenix and More

Ifulki, Disgusting Sisters, Epal and HINA are its first signings

[PIAS] has relaunched its influential Source label, with its UK and French teams jointly leading A&R and creative direction.

New focus:

  • Originally established at the turn of the millennium, Source released records from Air, Phoenix, Kings of Convenience, Turin Brakes, and Simian, among others.

  • [PIAS] still represents parts of the original Source catalog.

  • The company says the goal is not to recreate the original label, but to take its “founding spirit of discovery into a new generation.”

  • Source will operate under the banner “We Grow Loud” and focus on “creative freedom, artist identity and community,” and in giving artists the space and support to grow on their own terms.

Cross-border approach:

  • Source will combine the A&R expertise and local networks of [PIAS] France and [PIAS] UK with [PIAS]’s global infrastructure to discover, develop, and build audiences across multiple markets.

Debut signings:

  • Source’s first signings are London-based trio Ifulki; French-UK siblings Disgusting Sisters; solo artist Epal; and alt-pop artist HINA.

What they said:

  • Kenny Gates, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of [PIAS]: “Source has a fantastic history, but this isn’t about trying to recreate the past. It’s about taking the spirit that made the label special – discovering distinctive artists, trusting their vision and giving them the time and support to develop – and applying that to a new generation.”
