PARTYNEXTDOOR Partners with Fortnite for Immersive Concert Event
The artist follows in the footsteps of Metallica, Ariana Grande and more
R&B singer, songwriter and producer PARTYNEXTDOOR (PND) has launched a limited-time immersive music experience playable in Fortnite.
The details:
The experience launches today, August 1, at 1:00pm EST.
The concert event, developed in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment, Sony Immersive Music Studios, and OVO Sound, takes users on a tour of PND’s world, set on a custom island.
From the top of the CN Tower in his home city of Toronto, Fortnite players will travel on a private jet to the sands of South Beach to attend a PND show.
That’s followed by an exclusive after party at David Grutman’s LIV at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, which has been recreated for the experience.
Throughout, players can participate in quests and interactive elements such as scavenger hunts, mini-games and parkour levels.
Along the way, PND’s larger-than-life avatar will perform “visually dynamic, stylized versions” of hits such as “Break from Toronto,” which will be available as a Jam Track in the Fortnite Shop, “Ma k e I t T o T h e M o r n i n g” and “Somebody Loves Me.”
Also in Fortnite:
Other artists to have performed in Fortnite include Metallica, Travis Scott, Ariana Grande, Eminem, The Weeknd, Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish.
According to Forbes, Scott drew an audience of 12 million and made around $20 million from things such as merchandise sales.
Grande experienced a spike in streams following her performance, with Billboard reporting a 123% lift in streams of “Be Alright.”
Party time:
PND was the first artist to sign to Drake’s OVO Sound label.
His “Come and See Me” collab with Drake was Grammy-nominated and has been certified six times platinum.
He has also penned hits like Rihanna’s “Work” and DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts,” both reaching Number 1 on the Billboard 100.
His catalog has more than 11 billion streams globally.
