


MusiCares Releases Insights From the 2025 Wellness In Music Survey
The annual survey takes responses on the state of mental health care in the music industry
MusiCares, the charitable organization run by the Recording Academy, has shared the findings from its annual Wellness In Music Survey. Over 3,000 participants commented on “mental health, health care access, and financial wellness within the music community.”
The numbers:
Tragically, suicide is a serious issue in the music industry, with 11.4% of respondents saying they experienced suicidal ideations, up 8% from last year.
15.4% said they know someone in the music industry who committed suicide in the last year.
Sexual assault also remains an issue, with 20% saying they know of instances of sexual harassment, and nearly 10% know of instances of sexual assault in the last year.
85% have health insurance, with roughly half receiving it from government programs like the Affordable Care Act.
35% say they have a chronic disease, with half of them adding that the condition impedes their ability to work in the music industry.
78% make less than $100,000 per year and claim they can not pay their bills through music alone.
40% of respondents cite finances as a reason for anxiety. 32% cite finances as a cause of depression.
