Live Nation/Ticketmaster Lawsuits May Pause During Government Shutdown
The Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission moved to stall the proceedings
The US Government shut down on October 1, 2025, and in the wake of halted services, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have moved to pause federal lawsuits against Live Nation and Ticketmaster.
The details:
The motion from the FTC and DOJ is a result of a lack of funding brought on by the shutdown.
Federal employees, such as DOJ attorneys, are prohibited from working during a shutdown as their salaries are dependent on a functioning government.
The motion said such employees could continue working “in very limited circumstances.”
This case may be within those circumstances, as the judge overseeing the case denied an initial motion.
The case could end up being paused depending on how long the shutdown lasts.
Background:
The lawsuit in question was brought by the FTC against Live Nation and Ticketmaster, claiming the companies “used deceptive pricing tactics and earned hundreds of millions selling tickets acquired illegally by brokers, costing consumers billions of dollars in inflated prices and additional fees.”
