GoDigital Music, the LA-based music company offering label services, distribution, and publishing, has made significant moves to expand into the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Sebastian Mair has been appointed GoDigital’s President of APAC, and GoDigital has formed a partnership with Japanese entertainment company Pony Canyon.
Sebastian Mair:
Mair previously worked for companies with a strong presence in APAC such as Live Nation Japan and Ubisoft.
In his new role, he will lead strategic and commercial operations in the region.
According to Music Week, that includes “managing joint ventures, minority investments and distribution partnerships, expanding catalogue acquisition and rights monetisation opportunities, and developing new artist initiatives tailored to individual markets.”
Pony Canyon:
The agreement with Pony Canyon runs through GoDigital’s AdShare division.
AdShare will oversee YouTube monetization and IP rights for Pony Canyon’s catalog across the video hosting platform.
AdShare's proprietary function is identifying and monetizing music in UGC YouTube uploads.
Pony Canyon works in music production and distribution, film, home video, anime, and video games.
What they said:
Jason Peterson, Founder and Chairman of GoDigital Music: “We’re thrilled to have Sebastian join GoDigital Music and lead our efforts across APAC. Sebastian brings a deep understanding of the market and strong relationships across the industry. Our partnership with Pony Canyon is a great place to start, and we see a tremendous opportunity to bring the technology, services and expertise we’ve built at GoDigital Music to more artists, labels and rights-holders throughout the region.”
