Discogs Launches ‘My Discography’ Documentary Series
Each episode spotlights a collector and their stories
Music discovery and record collecting platform Discogs has launched an original series called My Discography, dedicated to celebrating the deeply personal relationships between collectors and their records.
The format:
Season 1 features five short-form documentary style episodes that will premiere on Discogs’ YouTube channel.
Each episode “explores the lives, passions, and histories of vinyl collectors from across the country,” as per the media release.
The first episode, featuring Louisville, KY, collector James Inge, is out now.
Wider play:
Discogs says the initiative continues its evolution beyond a marketplace into a cultural platform “rooted in storytelling, discovery and connection.”
It comes on the heels of a record-breaking year for the platform, with 2025 marking the highest number of items ever added to user collections.
What they said:
James Inge: “[A record] is not just a thing to look at. It is a useful item that carries history that can tell you about a place, can tell you about people... Who would’ve thought that these would still exist and be treasured and be played 50, 60 years later. We’re curating and presenting history.”
