Chappell Roan Leaves Wasserman After CEO Named in Epstein Files
Documents released by the Justice Department show Casey Wasserman exchanging emails with convicted sex trafficker and Epstein associate, Ghislaine Maxwell
Chappell Roan has officially left Wasserman agency over CEO Casey Wasserman’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein. She joins a chorus of numerous artists, including Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino, Wednesday, Beach Bunny, and Dropkick Murphys, in condemning or departing the agency.
The files:
Prior to this recent release, it was widely known that Wasserman flew on Jeffrey Epstein’s plane to Africa for an “AIDS fact-finding mission” in 2002.
Wasserman’s email correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell, which Billboard describes as "friendly, flirtatious and occasionally sexually-charged,” largely took place in 2003.
Wasserman released a response denying personal or professional association with Epstein
The statement also says, “I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell, which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light.”
The fallout:
Chappell Roan and Dropkick Murphys have both left Wasserman.
Wednesday and Rachel Brown of Water From Your Eyes signaled they plan to leave the agency as well.
Cosentino has publicly called for Casey Wasserman to resign.
What they said:
Roan via Instagram: “As of today, I am no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman. I hold my teams to the highest standards and have a duty to protect them as well. No artist, agent, or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values. I have deep respect and appreciation for the agents and staff who work tirelessly for their artists, and I refuse to passively stand by. Artists deserve representation that aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity. This decision reflects my belief that meaningful change in our industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.
