Chappell Roan-Endorsed Charity Backline Care Opens Mental Health Hotline for Artists

The resource is called B-LINE and it is sponsored by Spotify, Live Nation, and AEG Presents

Backline Care, a charity providing mental health care for musicians, has launched a new 24-hour mental health crisis hotline called B-LINE. It is intended to deliver immediate assistance to artists in need of support.

How it works:

  • Those in need can call 1-855-BLINE99 or text 254-639, 24 hours a day.

  • Professional counselors trained to engage with musicians will be on the other end.

  • Both methods of communication are completely confidential.

Background:

  • Spotify is the lead sponsor of B-LINE.

  • Other sponsors include Noah Kahan, Live Nation, Adyen, AEG Presents, The Busyhead Project, Red Light Management, and Wasserman Foundation.

  • Backline stated that Chappell Roan’s speech at the 2025 Grammys “helped set the stage for B-LINE.”

  • In said speech, Roan called for labels to provide basic income and health insurance for artists.

  • Roan also donated $25,000 to Backline to launch the “We Got You” fund. Kahan, Charli xcx, and Sabrina Carpenter later matched the donation.

What they said:

  • Backline Founder and Executive Director Hilary Gleason: “This has always been the dream. We’ve supported thousands of music industry professionals in their mental health and wellness journeys, but one critical piece was missing: real-time access to care. B-LINE changes that.”
