Apple Music users with iPhones running iOS 27.3 will soon be able to film videos of themselves singing along to songs, thanks to a new Selfie Sing feature spotted in the software’s beta, according to Apple Insider.
Doesn’t ‘Apple Music Sing’ do that?
That feature enables users to turn down vocals and sing along with lyrics.
Selfie Sing will offer users the ability to film themselves while singing.
How it works:
When a song is playing that works with the new Selfie Sing mode, a camera toggle will appear under the vocal audio volume control.
Tapping the toggle will switch to a video recording feature that produces vertical video.
It also supports the iPhone Duo’s rear-camera-as-selfie mode, moving video capture to the outer display so users can film themselves with the rear cameras while viewing the lyrics.
The feature will be iPhone-only, even though the dedicated Selfie Sing playlist will be visible to other Apple Music users. It will not be available on iPads running iPadOS 27.3.
Will it catch on?
Apple has introduced social media-friendly features before, but mainly in the Clips app.
As Digital Music News notes, features such as Apple SharePlay have struggled to gain traction beyond the pandemic, when people were largely confined to their homes.
