Stubhub and SeatGeek Introduce All-In Ticket Pricing

The secondary ticket marketplaces have followed Ticketmaster’s lead

Secondary ticket marketplaces StubHub and SeatGeek have joined Ticketmaster in offering upfront ticket pricing.

Why it matters:

  • The move comes in the wake of new Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regulations stipulating that upfront true costs of concert tickets must be displayed.

  • It's also in response to the Ticket ACT working its way through Congress.

  • All fees except local taxes are included in the advertised price.

Critics say:

  • Though obliged to show all the fees, ticket sellers are not bound to include a breakdown of those costs (eg. service fee, processing fee).

  • Critics have pointed out that by grouping the fees together under one single amount, the ticket-buying process is still not wholly transparent.
