Spotify will host its inaugural Fresh Finds Summit in Los Angeles on November 4 and 5. The two-day forum will bring together hundreds of emerging independent artists from its Fresh Finds Forward program with musicians such as John Legend and Ryan Tedder.
Why it matters:
The Summit offers two days of masterclasses, live feedback on artists’ songs, and conversations with artists, songwriters and executives.
Sessions will cover topics such as songwriting, touring, money, building a team, making music videos, protecting mental health, and how music curation works.
Speakers include John Legend, Ryan Tedder, María Zardoya of The Marías and Not For Radio, Quinn XCII, JP Saxe, 8AE, and Solly, alongside leaders from Backline, CAA, Good World, True Panther, and Spotify’s editors.
Backstory:
The Summit builds on Spotify’s Fresh Finds Forward program, launched in September to provide resources, community and support to approximately 10,000 emerging independent artists each year.
Fresh Finds Forward grew out of Spotify’s Fresh Finds discovery platform, whose playlists have helped more than 80,000 artists across 127 countries break through over the past decade.
What they said:
Joe Hadley, Spotify’s Global Head of Music Content and Partnerships: “A Fresh Finds placement can be the moment an artist gets heard for the first time. The Summit brings Fresh Finds Forward to life in person, with two days of real, practical guidance from artists and industry leaders who’ve built lasting careers, shared with artists at a pivotal moment in their own.”
