Soundcloud has just announced Follower-Exclusive Releases, enabling artists to share music directly with their followers. Dutch house music stalwart Chris Stussy will launch the feature by releasing the single “What Makes You Feel” exclusively to his SoundCloud followers before his debut album Lost, Found & Forgotten… comes out on April 3.
Why it matters:
Artists can now add another layer to their release campaigns by designating certain works to be shared with followers before the larger audience.
Artists can also have music available exclusively to followers for an indefinite period of time.
Soundcloud launched the feature to help build relationships between artists and fans.
With a smaller, more dedicated community available, artists can share works-in-progress, demos, and other more expansive music.
What they said:
Stussy: “I’ve been using SoundCloud since the start. During my early days, I was uploading a lot of podcasts and recorded sets. I sometimes gave away a free download or posted snippets of upcoming tracks I was making. For this occasion, I’d like to share ‘What makes you feel…’ as a thank you for everyone who’s been listening to me on the platform all those years. It’s part of the ‘Forgotten’ side of my album, and I’m playing this track a lot as my intro for the last couple of months. Enjoy this one, all the best.”
