


Sony Posts $2.77B in Q2 Music & Publishing, Up 8.8%
Bad Bunny was the company’s biggest selling artist over the last quarter
Sony Music Entertainment’s (SME) recorded music and publishing arms achieved revenue growth of 8.8% YoY in Q2 (fiscal Q1 2025), generating $2.768 billion across the quarter. NB. Recorded music:
Sony’s global recorded music operation generated $2.09 billion in calendar Q2, up 8.4% YoY on a USD basis.
Streaming (subscription and ad-funded) generated $1.36 billion, up 7.3% YoY.
Physical music sales were up 19.0% YoY to hit $180 million.
The ‘Other’ category – comprised of license revenue, merchandising and live performance income – generated $481 million, up 3.1% YoY.
The biggest recorded music project in the quarter was Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.

The company’s global music publishing business generated $683 million in the quarter, up 9.9% YoY at the US dollar level.
Approximately $392 million of that revenue came from streaming, up 8.0% YoY.
