Monstercat and Westwood Recordings Form Joint Venture

Two mainstay Canadian electronic record labels, Monstercat and Westwood Recordings, have entered into a new joint venture. This agreement will support Westwood with funding, personnel, and Monstercat’s global infrastructure, including its foothold in gaming.

The details:

• Nick Middleton, Founder of Westwood, will remain in charge.

• The deal will bring new artists and genres to Westwood in addition to launching a publishing arm.

Background:

• Middleton founded Westwood in 2013.

• Westwood’s roster includes Big Gigantic, Dirtwire, Moontricks, and Cut Chemist.

• Create Music Group (CMG) acquired Monstercat in 2025.

• At the time, CMG invested $50 million in Monstercat, which helped secure the Westwood agreement.
