Live Nation Expands Southern Hemisphere Footprint
The live event giant has acquired New Zealand festival producer Team Event
Live Nation has acquired Christchurch-based festival producer Team Event, the body behind New Zealand’s largest two-day festival, Electric Avenue.
The details:
Electric Avenue was founded in Christchurch in 2015, and draws 40,000 people per day.
Previous headliners include Lorde, The Chemical Brothers, Flume and The Prodigy.
Team Event Director Callam Mitchell says the partnership will afford access to talent and expertise, and help secure the long-term future of the business.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Live Nation’s existing Antipodean portfolio includes NZ’s Rhythm & Vines festival and the Greenstone Summer Concert Tour across regional areas in NZ, and the Spilt Milk brand in Australia.
What they said:
Mark Kneebone, Managing Director of Live Nation New Zealand: “Electric Avenue is a testament to what local grit and vision can create – a world-class live music experience.”
He adds: “We are excited to partner with Callam and Team Event to take Electric Avenue and its festival brands to the next level, giving fans even greater access to local and international talent while supporting the future growth and success of this iconic New Zealand festival.”
